TASTE OF INDIA

Celebrating Denver's 40-Year Sister City Partnership with Chennai

Taste of India was a multi-day festival at Skyline Park celebrating Denver’s 40th anniversary as Chennai, India’s Sister City. This festival showcased the unique and historical relationship between these two cities while celebrating the rich and diverse Indian culture prevalent in the Denver community.

The Taste of India branding is inspired by the culture and architecture of Chennai. The colors were specifically pulled from the colors of the Kaalikambal Kamadeswarar Temple in Chennai. The graphic elements were pulled from patterns and fabrics used throughout the Indian culture, and the typeface was inspired by common fonts used throughout Indian graphic design. One font used in the poster is specifically a Tamil font, the common language in Chennai. Overall, the poster is bold and vibrant, symbolizing this celebration of the sister city relationship.

I appreciate every small gesture by the Fireside team members on field such as giving waters and they were always ready to answer our questions. Good work guys and thank you for the great event.

Taste of India’s impact was felt all over Denver! In addition to fundraising over $5,000+ for Denver Sister Cities International, the festival also made international waves, getting the attention of Chennai’s Mayor Priya Rajan, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, and the Indian Government. Not only did Taste of India provide community programming initiatives for all, but it also provided brand awareness and economic impact to local vendors, artists, musicians, and small business owners who participated in Taste of India programming.
