CORPSE REVIVER
After having already worked on the Hooch Booch Kombucha brand, the founder came to us hoping to bring that same strong identity and personality to Corpse Reviver, a non-alcoholic electrolyte beverage. They were confident in the product concept, but they were lost on how to properly convey the brand's story and unique differentiators to their audience. Our role was to solve this problem by reshaping the abstract strategy and physical can design.
Challenge
Redefine the brand story and narrative to better appeal to the target audience. Create a can design that encapsulates the dual-purpose nature of the drink—providing non-alcoholic evening relaxation and a revitalizing morning boost.
Solution
Shift the focus from "corpse" to "revival". Use metaphorical storytelling to paint the picture of the product's dualities. Add a feminity and lightness that the target audience will connect with, but without losing a connection to Hooch Booch. Bring in a talented detailed illustrator who can help extend the story over every inch of the can.
The can design tells the story of the product’s unique versatility through an illustrative imaginative fairy tale. The design leans into the brand’s mystical and ornate style, and away from the minimalist modernity taking over the industry.
We crafted the concept of The Corpse Reviver, who would bring showers that revive the plants above ground and the skeletons below ground, filling their glasses and inspiring them to dance. Taking inspiration from vintage fairy tale covers, we collaborated with illustrator, Gaspar Costa, to bring the illustrations to life, strategically covering every inch of the can with illustrative elements.
With Corpse Reviver catering to both non-alcoholic evening relaxation and morning revitalization, the packaging ingeniously showcases the dual storylines.
